Why does this book belongs in the IN{HABIT} AMAZING BOOK HALL OF FAME:

 

1. Stress is an unavoidable component of life. This book shows us new science-based ways of engaging with stress that are empowering rather than debilitating. Coping with stress (aka LIFE) in a healthy way sure sounds like Radical Self-Care to me!

 

2. The Upside of Stress explains that people who believe stress can be helpful are more likely to be in reality about their circumstances as opposed to trying to avoid or distance themselves from stress. Many of us have experienced negative consequences due to avoiding the causes of stress in our lives at one time or another. In light of this fact, we can see that facing our stressors rather than avoiding them is healthy. Maybe counterintuitively, facing our stressors can reduce our need for addictions and distractions. In this book, Dr. McGonigal gives us practical ways to activate this science in facing our stress.

 

3. Dr. McGonigal explains the scientific findings on the power of MINDSET in this book! This is one of the most inspiring and exciting research she shares, I think, because it can so easily be activated and applied in our lives!
